Flu vaccine for Primary and Secondary School children

We have been asked to share this message with parents by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board

All primary and secondary school children can get a free and painless nasal spray flu vaccine at school, at a clinic organised by the school nurse. Having the flu vaccine is the best way to protect your child against catching or spreading flu this winter.

Children at Ysgol Maes Y Mynydd will be offered their flu vaccine at school on Monday 12th December 2022. Please make sure you have completed and returned a consent form for your child.

Flu can be a very unpleasant illness for children. It can lead to serious problems, such as bronchitis and pneumonia, and severe illness.

Children catch and spread flu very easily. Vaccinating them also protects other members of your family who are vulnerable to flu, including older relatives and people with underlying health conditions.

Your GP surgery will also offer free nasal spray flu vaccines to all children who were aged 2 or 3 on August 31 2022. Please take up the invitation for your child or children this winter.
